I am a writer, editor, and grizzled veteran of a career in academic reference publishing. I have authored a wide assortment of reference works on politics, culture, and American history over the years, including Environmental Politics and Policy: A Documentary History (2010) and Health Care Politics and Policy: A Documentary History (2012), both published by CQ Press. I am also the co-author of Paddling Michigan (2001), a guide to the state’s best kayaking and canoeing destinations that I can’t believe is still in print. I live outside Lansing, Michigan, with a French bulldog who is smarter than she looks.
